Challenge

Ensuring future operational efficiency

Fashion brand Superdry competes in a tough global marketplace, with 740 branded stores across 61 countries. Superdry’s core merchandising system, a legacy platform that had reached maturity, required attention after long-term use, as its original support had ended.

Superdry explored modern merchandising solutions for ERP and order management but found affordability to be a challenge. However, the existing Mercatus system continued to meet their business needs and did not impede their growth strategy.

As a result, Superdry sought out a technology partner with the required expertise to manage the existing system and selected PMC for the task.

Approach

Applying technical expertise and automation

PMC leveraged its extensive experience in commerce applications to support Superdry’s Mercatus system. The PMC team, including key consultants with deep knowledge of the platform, quickly transitioned Mercatus to their support desk and cloud operations team, ensuring seamless management. Alongside this, PMC also took responsibility for Superdry’s PoS and CRM systems running in AWS.

To enhance efficiency and stability, PMC embedded automation tools across Superdry’s infrastructure. This included self-healing capabilities for issue resolution, proactive monitoring for early detection, and system performance optimisation, all contributing to improved uptime and a better user experience. Through these enhancements, PMC ensured both operational continuity and increased system resilience.

Solution

Expert support for legacy systems and cloud migration

PMC leveraged its expertise in cloud operations and legacy application support to ensure Superdry’s Mercatus system, along with its infrastructure, continued to operate efficiently. PMC optimised and secured all components, allowing Superdry to maximise the value of its Mercatus platform.

PMC also executed a seamless migration to AWS, successfully transferring around three dozen mission-critical servers with no disruption to business operations. By maintaining a secure and optimised infrastructure, PMC ensured Superdry could focus on growth while benefiting from ongoing support.

Outcome

Stable, future-fit merchandising

Superdry has extended the operational lifespan of its critical merchandising system by three years, improving its stability and reducing risks.

Thanks to the proactive measures and automation PMC introduced, system performance has improved, and many potential issues are resolved automatically before impacting business operations.

Superdry, PMC, and their solution vendors worked closely to ensure a seamless transition and successful outcome, allowing the brand to focus on future opportunities while maintaining operational continuity.

As a result of PMC’s migration initiative, Superdry has gained valuable time to carry out considered business planning that will take our organisation into the future. This extended stability allows us to focus on enhancing our customer experience and exploring new opportunities for growth.
