Who you'll work with
Two companies, one engineering team
United Infrastructure and PMC have partnered to build Power T&D, a dedicated engineering team in India that works directly on UI's UK power network projects.
This is not a back office. The team works inside UI's frameworks, alongside its UK Project Directors, Lead Engineers and supply chain partners.
United Infrastructure Power T&D
The UK projects
United Infrastructure's Power T&D business delivers high-voltage overhead line, underground cable and substation projects through long-term framework agreements for major UK network owners, including National Grid, SSEN Transmission and SP Energy Networks.
PMC
The team in India
PMC has more than 20 years' experience building and running specialist teams across the UK and India. United Infrastructure asked PMC to build and run Power T&D, a dedicated engineering team in India, to work on its UK projects.
What you'll work on
Three disciplines. Real UK projects.
Overhead lines
Typical voltages: 275kV to 400kV
Typical work
- 01New build & refurbishment of overhead transmission lines up to 400kV
- 02Transmission tower and pylon installation and modification
- 03Transmission connections for renewable generation and major infrastructure projects
- 04Large regional transmission upgrade programmes
Underground cable
United Infrastructure delivers underground cabling works that keep the UK’s electricity networks safe, reliable and resilient. Its teams work across all voltages, from low-voltage connections to high-voltage transmission and distribution, covering cable installation, jointing, testing and commissioning. Working with the UK’s largest network operators, the company helps reinforce existing networks and add the capacity needed to meet growing demand and support the transition to cleaner energy.
Typical work
- 01Low-voltage connections
- 02High-voltage transmission and distribution circuits
- 03Cable installation
- 04Jointing
- 05Testing and commissioning
- 06Network reinforcement and capacity increases
Substations
Typical work
- 01Groundworks and site preparation
- 02Foundations and structures
- 03Electrical installation
- 04Testing and commissioning
- 05Upgrades and capacity increases on existing substations
- 06Connections for new low-carbon generation

One standard of work
The same design checks, the same safety philosophy and the same quality bar as the UK team. Nobody treats India's work as a draft.
Same systems, same projects
You work in the same project environment as UK colleagues, so you see the whole picture, not a slice of it.
Ownership, not tickets
You own parts of the design and talk them through with Lead Engineers directly. Your name is on the work.
Tools you'll use
Your career
UK engineering, a team being built now.
UK project exposure without relocating
Design complex high-voltage infrastructure to UK, IEC and IEEE standards on live UK projects, from an office in India.
A team being built now
Early joiners help set the team's ways of working, tools and standards, with clear routes into senior and lead roles as the team grows.
Work that lasts
Multi-year UK utility frameworks mean steady work and the chance to see major projects through, from first feasibility study to final commissioning.
Meet the team
The people building it
- United Kingdom · United Infrastructure
“Reaching net zero depends on transmission and distribution networks that can connect new renewable generation and carry far more electricity than they do today. That takes an unprecedented volume of skilled engineering. Our partnership with PMC gives us a trusted, scalable engineering capability that strengthens our strategy and helps us build the networks a low-carbon future depends on, faster.”
Campbell Crawford, Managing Director
United Infrastructure Power Transmission & Distribution
“Our T&D design projects demand engineers with deep technical expertise who can work as one team with ours. By combining our design leadership with PMC’s engineering talent across the UK and India, we’re building a global design capability that can scale with demand, work across time zones and maintain the quality and safety standards our clients expect. It means we can take on more projects and deliver them with greater pace and certainty.”
